Theresa Koch Services Held

Theresa Koch, 96, of Reinbeck, passed away Friday, Feb. 9, at the Parkview Manor Nursing Home in Reinbeck.

Funeral services were held Monday, February 12, at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Wellsburg. Pastor Richard Dowling officiated.

Casket bearers were Chris Koch, Herman Koch, Darrell Koch, Dallas Koch, John Schipper and Willie Giesking.

Interment was in the church cemetery.

Theresa Koch, daughter of Wilhelm and Johann Brunken Stickfort, was born in Ostfriesland, Germany, on August 30, 1893. As a small child, Theresa came to America with her family in 1903. They settled near Wellsburg. She was baptized as an infant and later confirmed and joined the membership of St. Paul's Evangelical Church in Wellsburg.

On August 17, 1909, Theresa was united in marriage to Fred Koch.

Theresa enjoyed sewing and quilting, gardening and flowers.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Fred; a daughter, Vertina Boelman; two grandchildren; two brothers, Emil and William; and one sister, Lena (Mrs. Henry) Sleper.

Theresa is survived by three sons: Bill Koch, Reinbeck, Herman Koch, Hudson, and Alfred Koch, Louisville, KY; one daughter, Dorothy (Mrs. John) Akkerman, Parkersburg; one sister, Reka Hyatt, Baraboo, WI; 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.

The Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center was in charge of the funeral arrangements.
