Lydia G. Bausman, of Grundy Center, passed away Friday, Sept. 1, 2000, at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital of natural causes. She attained the age of 93 years, four months and 12 days.
Funeral services were 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 5, at the Bethany Presbyterian Church. Pastor Larry Hoop officiated. Burial was in the Wellsburg Reformed Church Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established.
Lydia was born April 19, 1907, in Wellsburg the daughter of Harm and Elsie (Huisman) Peters. She graduated from Wellsburg High School.
On July 19, 1927, she was united in marriage to Floyd Bausman. The couple farmed 12 years near Parkersburg and two years near Wellsburg. Floyd passed away February 18, 1944. Lydia worked as a cook in different restaurants in Parkersburg and Grundy Center. She worked in a local grocery for several years. She retired in 1970. She moved to the Grundy Care Center in 1990.
Lydia was preceded in death by her husband Floyd in 1944; her parents; three brothers, Jerry, Jake and Harm Peters; two sisters, Emma (Mrs. Sed) Cogswell and Tillie (Mrs. Lynn) Bausman; and a son-in-law, Floyd Luiken.
Lydia is survived by her daughters, Ethel Luiken of Grundy Center and Minerva and her husband Charles Juel of Stout; five grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home, Grundy Center, was in charge of the arrangements.
