John H. Kruse Services Held

John Kruse, 85, of Wellsburg, passed away on Wednesday, March 21, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo.

Funeral services were held at the Second Christian Reformed Church in Wellsburg on Saturday, March 24, at 1:30 p.m. Rev. H. Charles Kooger officiated.

Richard Schafer sang "How Great Thou Art," and "Where The Roses Never Fade." He was accompanied by Mrs. LuRay Neessen, who also played selected numbers for the prelude and postlude.

Casket bearers were Ron Jungling, Bernard Beninga, Mike Kruse, Ronald Kruse, Brad Jungling and Brad Schafer.

Ben Hook and Harm Meyer were ushers, with Sharon Jungling and Wilma Meyer in charge of the floral arrangements.

Interment was in Shiloh Township Cemetery in Wellsburg.

John H. Kruse, son of Harm H. and Anna Sievers Kruse, was born March 21, 1905, in German Township, Ackley. He attended the Flowing Well Township School #8.

On February 17, 1932, John was united in marriage to Henrietta Schafer at the First Christian Reformed Church in Wellsburg. They farmed in Grundy county, and they owned and operated a service station in Wellsburg for 18 years until John retired in 1968.

John was a deacon in the Second Christian Reformed Church. He was also very active in the Community Club and dedicated to making Wellsburg a great place to live.

After his retirement, he was able to devote all his spare time to his favorite game--golf. He was a member of the Meadowbrook Golf Course, and played golf every day he possibly could.

His friendship and friendliness touched many and will be missed.

John was preceded in death by one brother, Albert, and one sister, Cornelia Harms.

He is survived by his wife, Henrietta; two sons, Larry Jon of Albuquerque, NM, and David Michael of Raleigh, NC; one brother, Martin Kruse of Eldora; and by four grandchildren.

A memorial fund has been established.

The Doyen-Abels Funeral Home of Wellsburg was in charge of the funeral arrangements.
