Services For Gordon Junker Held Tuesday

Funeral services for Gordon J. Junker were held on Tuesday, May 27, at 1:30 p.m. at the St. John's Lutheran Church in Wellsburg. Pastor C. Langhans officiated at the services.

Miss Debra Brosdahl sang a solo, and two selections were sung by the congregation from the Lutheran Worship. Mrs. Norman Harms was organist.

Mrs. Alvin Harms and Mrs. George Sietsema were in charge of the flowers.

Casket bearers were Leland Heinrich, Leon Harms, Ronald deNeui, Kenneth Cordes, Lowell Riekena and Robert Murra. The interment service was held in Shiloh Cemetery in Wellsburg.

The Doyen Funeral Home was in charge of the funeral arrangements.

Mr. Junker passed away early Saturday morning, May 24, 1986, at the Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo due to complications after surgery. He had submitted to surgery on May 5th. He reached the age of 76 years and 13 days.

He was born Gordon John Junker on May 11, 1910 at Graettinger, IA, the son of Matthias and Bertha (Petersen) Junker, and graduated from the Ruthven high school with the Class of 1928. He also attended Iowa State College in Ames for two years. On April 15, 1934, he was married to Anita Rudi at Glidden, IA. Following their marriage they lived in Glidden for one year, then moved to Clermont where he managed the Co-Op Creamery for 8 years. They then moved to Traer where he managed the Traer Co-Op Creamery for 3 years. In 1944 they moved to Wellsburg where they purchased the Wellsburg Creamery from Ray Gimer.

Gordon was a long-time member of the St. John's Lutheran Church of Wellsburg.

He served on the Wellsburg Community School Board of Education; the Grundy County Board of Education; the Wellsburg City Council and as Eldora Zone President of the Lutheran Laymen's League.

Preceding him in death were his parents, a sister, Mrs. Leah Ratliff; a brother, Paul Junker; and a daughter-in-law, Laura Junker.

Those left to mourn his passing are his wife, Anita; 3 daughters and one son, Mrs. Dennis (Donna) Brosdahl of Cresco; Mrs. Eric (Marilyn) Pyle of Arcadia, CA; Mrs. John (Karen) McCoy of Vienna, VA; Joel Junker of Seattle, WA; 4 grandchildren, Debra Brosdahl, Lindy Pearson, Christopher McCoy, and Greg Pyle; one sister, Mrs. Davis (Gladys) Hayden of Venice, FL and many other relatives and friends.
