Fred Bolhuis Died Monday Morning

Fred Bolhuis, son of Lawrence and Tena Bolhuis, was born in Ostwalt, Netherlands, Feb. 6, 1884. He was married to Dorothy Boelman at Midwalter, Netherlands, on Oct. 27, 1905. To this union six children were born, all of whom survive him and were able to be present at his funeral. They are Lawrence of Cedar Falls, (Edna) Mrs. Verb Syhlman of Parkersburg, Jerry of Parkersburg, (Tena) Mrs. Harm Meyer of Parkersburg, (Minnie) Mrs. John Gersema of Shell Rock, and Henry of Parkersburg.

The Bolhuis family arrived in the U.S. the 19th of February, 1912. They lived mostly around Stout until 1943, when the parents retired and moved to Stout. It was in the Stout home that the final summons came on Monday morning at 6:15 o'clock.

The deceased reached the age of 72 years, 10 months, 27 days. He had always enjoyed good health, until about 4 years ago, when he suffered a stroke from which he recovered almost completely. Then 14 months ago came the first sign of the illness, a spinal growth, that ended his earthly life. All that medical care could do by way of surgery and X-ray in the hospitals in Iowa City and Waterloo and all that loving care could do for him at home was done.

Surviving are his widow and children; the following brothers: Sabo of Dunkerton, Dan and Harm of Vicksburg, Mich.; Lawrence and Anna, still in The Netherlands; also by 16 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded by his parents, one brother, Henry, and one sister, Gertie.

Mr. Bolhuis attended faithfully the services of the Reformed Church of Stout. His Christian faith was to him a solid foundation in life's storms, and he passed on in the assured faith and hope of eternal salvation through Jesus Christ his Savior and Lord.

Funeral services will be held at the Stout Reformed church on Thursday afternoon at 1:30 at the church, following a brief service at the home. Rev. A. Roskamp will officiate. Burial in the Stout church cemetery.
