Services Held on Sunday, Oct. 1, For James D. Kann, 85

James D. Kann, the son of William and Mary Kann, was born in Dayton, Michigan on Oct. 4, 1858, and passed away at his home in Conrad, Iowa, Sept. 29, 1944, having reached the age of almost 86 years.

He came to Iowa when a small child. He was married to Rozella Mowrey on Dec. 29, 1880 at Brooklyn, Iowa, where they lived until coming to Conrad in October of 1924. He united with the Brethren church in the year of 1893 at Brooklyn, Iowa. He was a member of the Conrad Methodist Sunset Club and greatly enjoyed its fellowship.

He is survived by his widow and two daughters, Mrs. Edith Newton and Mrs. W. L. Johnston, both of Conrad; one brother, Frank Kann and one half-brother, John Doonan, of Brooklyn; and 5 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and one brother.

Funeral services were held Sunday, Oct. 1 at the Avey funeral home, Rev. E. C. Allen of the Conrad Methodist church officiating. Pallbearers were W. S. Crouse, R. Gravenstein, Chas. Clark, Wm. Franzenburg, F. O. Ray, Wm. Lounsberry. Interment was made in the Conrad cemetery.
