Myrtle St. Clair Dies Sunday
Myrtle St. Clair was born Aug. 14, 1880 at Beaman, Iowa, and passed away May 4, 1947 at her home in Jefferson, Iowa at the age of 66 years, eight months and 20 days.
She was one of a family of nine children, having had six sisters and two brothers. She was a member of the Beaman Methodist church, joining at an early age. She was married to Ralph E. St. Clair Feb. 5, 1901, who preceded her in death several years ago. Mrs. St. Clair lived in this community until 1923 when she moved to Jefferson, where she had made her home since.
Mrs. St. Clair is survived by four children: a daughter, Roma, and three sons Ray and Ernest of Jefferson, and Dale of Sioux City. One daughter Zona Mae preceded her in death some years ago. She is also survived by three sisters: Mrs. Pearl Cross and Mrs. Bess Binder of Conrad, and Mrs. Esther Torrence of Bena, Minn.; two brothers Asa Middleton of Grundy Center, and Fred Middleton of Conrad.
Funeral services were held at the Slininger funeral chapel in Jefferson at 10 a.m. Tuesday, with Rev. Ellsworth L. Woods, pastor of the Central Church of Christ in Jefferson, in charge. Mrs. Darwin P. Moore sang “Good Night and Good Morning,” accompanied by Joyce Rhodes also of Jefferson.
The funeral procession then preceded to Conrad where services were held at the Conrad Methodist church at 4 p.m. Tuesday, with Rev. E. C. Allen, pastor, officiating. Interment was in the Conrad cemetery.
Pallbearers were Russell St. Clair, Eldon St. Clair, Wendell St. Clair, Arnett Middleton, Clyde Newton and Franklin Binder.
