Funeral at Conrad

Services Held For Mrs. W. C. Hiatt Thursday Afternoon.

Conrad, Oct. 3.—Funeral services for Mrs. W. C. Hiatt, a well-known resident of this place, were held Thursday afternoon from the Methodist church here in charge of Rev. F. O. Hillman. Burial was in the Conrad cemetery.

Mrs. Hiatt was born Mary E. Cochran at Elwood, Ind., March 28, 1875, and passed away at her home in Conrad, Sept. 30, on the thirty-ninth anniversary of her marriage. She was united in marriage to William C. Hiatt, Sept. 30, 1891. To this union two sons were born, Cleon Kenneth, of Iowa Falls, and G. Clare, of Marshalltown, who survive. Her husband and one brother, Joseph A. Cochran, of Elwood, Ind., also survive.

Mr. and Mrs. Hiatt made their home in Indiana until October 1900 when they came to Conrad, and have since lived in Conrad or vicinity. In March 1905 they united with the Methodist Episcopal church and since that time they have been very active members. Mrs. Hiatt has been especially active in the Missionary Society and the W.C.T.U.

Conrad Woman Dies Suddenly

Mrs. W. C. Hiatt Dies Tuesday Shortly After She Was Stricken

Mrs. W. C. Hiatt died at her home at Conrad shortly after twelve o'clock Tuesday. She had been getting dinner when she suffered a stroke and she died within a half hour without having regained consciousness. Mrs. Hiatt had been away on a trip and had returned home only a few days ago. She had been feeling better of late than for a number of years.

Funeral services will be held at the Methodist church at Conrad at two o'clock this afternoon with the local pastor, Rev. F. O. Hillman, in charge.

Mrs. Hiatt was born March 28, 1875. Her maiden name was Ellen Cochran. She resided in Grundy county most of her lifetime. For many years the family resided on a farm in Felix township. Several years ago they moved to Conrad.

Mrs. Hiatt is survived by her husband, two sons, and six grandchildren. The sons are Kenneth from Iowa Falls and Clare from Marshalltown.
