Mrs. Louis Hess Buried on Tuesday

Local Woman Dies Last Sunday after Lingering Illness

Cora Martha Ware, daughter of Robert and Elvira Ware was born at Modale, Harrison County, Iowa, January 8, 1881 and departed this life April 19, 1936, age 55 years, 3 months and 11 days.

As a small child she moved with her parents to Grant City, Worth County, Missouri, where she spent her childhood and grew to maturity.

On April 5, 1905, she was united in marriage to Louis R. Hess at Grant City, Missouri.

With her husband she came to Grundy County, Iowa, taking up the duties of keeping house and being the stepmother of five children, of which she was unfailing in her devotion to duty.

She lived on the farm 28 years where Mr. and Mrs. Hess reared their family.

On May 3, 1933 with her husband, she moved to Conrad, where she has been an invalid until she passed away. She was stricken with paralysis nearly a year before.

In 1910 under the labors of Rev. E. E. Heltibridle she united with the Church of God at Alice and has been a faithful member since.

She leaves to mourn her loss her devoted husband and 5 sons Raymond of Grundy Center, Sylvan, of Marshalltown, Leslie, Foster and Homer of Long Beach, California; five step-children, Vernon of Pipestone, Minn., Mrs. Lucy Katzer, Whitten, Mrs. Susie Ware, Robert and Ernest of Grundy Center, Ia. Also her aged mother and brother Charles of Grundy Center; six grandchildren and also 34 step grandchildren whom she loved as her own. They in turn returned their love to her.

She was laid to rest in the Alice Cemetery six miles north of Conrad, Tuesday, April 21, 1936.

A large gathering of sympathizing neighbors and friends attended the funeral which was in charge of Rev. Masemore with Rev. Hiltebridle and Rev. Tewell assisting. The text was taken from Psalms 119:71.

The honorary pallbearers were Henry Klinfelter, Peter Baasch, John Stevens and Al Kline. The active pallbearers were M. D. Hughes, Walter Minnich, Floyd Stevens, Clarence Bockes and Frank and Win Crouse.

Those in Charge of flowers were : Mrs. L. J. Gohner, Mrs. Tom Boyle, Mrs. Walter Minnich and Mrs. M. D. Hughes.
