W. H. Early Dies at Home in Conrad Sunday Evening
Funeral Services Held at Conrad Methodist Church Wednesday Afternoon
William Henry Early, only son of William and Emma Scott Early, was born near Liscomb, Iowa, August 28, 1882 and died at his home in Conrad Sunday evening, July 20, 1941, at 9 o’clock. On January 9th following his birth, his father was killed when crushed by a falling tree. Later his mother married D. B. Elliott and he was reared as a son by Mr. Elliott.
He was united in marriage to Miss Alice Russie of the Green Mountain neighborhood February 23, 1910. They lived on the old John Early farm east of Liscomb until moving to Conrad 10 years ago. Mr. Early had been in failing health for several years due to a serious spinal injury resulting from a fall at his farm home in 1915.
Always mindful of those about him, especially the wife who administered to him for 26 years, he was indeed an example of suffering affliction by patient endurance. He uttered no complaint, for fully trusting in God. His grace was sufficient.
He was a member of the Christian church at Liscomb.
Surviving Mr. Early are his wife, a number of relatives and many friends of the Conrad and Liscomb communities who will miss his cheerful words of greeting.
The funeral was held at the Conrad Methodist church Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock with Rev. George Biersborn of Liscomb conducting the services with Rev. E. C. Allen assisting. Pall bearers were Fred Ray, Burdette Rolston, Art Schiebel, Raymond Beeghly, Leslie Ralston and Green Ralls. The flowers were cared for by Miss Clara Strickler, Mrs. Ben Frederick, Mrs. Calvin Crouse, Margaret Wheeler, Russell St. Clair, Mrs. John Schiebel sang with Miss Evelyn Stevens at the piano.
Interment was made in the Conrad cemetery.
