Rites Slated Thursday For Fannie Ruter

Mrs. Fannie Ruter, 85, of Wellsburg, passed away early Tuesday morning at the Long Term Care Unit of the Grundy County Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 2, at the Wellsburg Reformed Church, Wellsburg.

Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Irwin (Andeline) Abels of Wellsburg; two sisters, Mrs. Helen Ohling and Mrs. Carl (Carrie) Nederhoff, both of Wellsburg; and by two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A memorial fund has been established.

There will be public visitation at the Doyen-Abels Funeral Home, Wellsburg from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon on Thursday and at the church prior to services.

Fannie Ruter Services Held

Mrs. Fannie Ruter of Wellsburg passed away at 5 a.m. on Tuesday, March 31, at the Long Term Care Unit of the Grundy Center Memorial Hospital in Grundy Center.

Funeral services were held at the Wellsburg Reformed Church, Wellsburg, on Thursday, April 2, at 2 p.m. Rev. Roger Huitink officiated.

Rev. and Mrs. Roger Huitink sang "Where The Roses Never Fade" and "We Shall See His Lovely Face." They were accompanied by Mrs. Harvin Meyer, who also played selected numbers for the prelude and postlude.

The casket bearers were Clarence Murra, Duane Murra, Elmer Ruter, Leland Heinrich, Gerald Meyer and Royce Tack.

The ushers were Dale Murray and Harry Duhn. Mrs. Harris Harrenstein and Mrs. Jack Deters were in charge of the floral arrangements.

Interment was in the Wellsburg Reformed Church Cemetery, Wellsburg.

Relatives and friends were invited to return to the church following to committal services for a period of Christian fellowship and refreshments.

Mrs. Ruter was born on February 19, 1902, on a farm west of Wellsburg in Grundy county, the daughter of Andrew and Afke Jaspers Murra. She attained the age of 85 years, one month and 11 days.

She grew up on the farm near Wellsburg and attended school in Wellsburg.

On July 8, 1925, she was united in marriage to Peter E. Ruter at the Wellsburg Reformed Church parsonage by Rev. William Landsiedel. After their marriage, they started farming 1 1/2 miles northwest of Wellsburg. They lived on the same farm for 42 years, retiring and moving to Wellsburg on March 15, 1967. On March 7, 1981, her husband Peter E. Ruter, passed away. On December 23, 1986, she became a resident of the Long Term Care Unit in Grundy Center.

She became a member of the Wellsburg Reformed Church on May 15, 1932, and was also a member of the Ladies Guild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and two sisters.

She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Irwin (Andeline) Abels of Wellsburg; two sisters, Mrs. Helen Ohling and Mrs. Carl (Carrie) Nederhoff, both of Wellsburg; two grandchildren, Maxine Flater and Leon Abels; and by four great-grandchildren, Bradly and Kimberly Flater and Brian and Scott Abels.

A memorial fund has been established.

The Doyen-Abels Funeral Home in Wellsburg was in charge of the funeral arrangements.
