Services Are Slated For Wayne Ralston

Wayne B. Ralston, 77, of Grundy Center passed away Monday evening at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, April 3, at the First Baptist Church in Grundy Center.

Burial will be in the Alice Church cemetery, SW of Grundy Center.

He is survived by his wife, Carol; one son, Roger of Bagley, WI; one daughter, Mrs. Don (Marcyne) Heitman of Bossier, LA; two brothers, Leslie Ralston of Conrad and Jerry Ralston of Ocean Side, CA; four sisters, Mrs. Ira (Lorene) Gross of Des Moines, Mrs. Harry (Thelma) Price of Cedar Falls, Mrs. Truman (DeVee) Adams of Mount Vernon, TX and Mrs. Roger (Betty) Newton of Golden, CO; and by four grandsons and two step-grandsons.

A memorial fund has been established.

There will be public visitation at the Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and at the church prior to services on Friday.

Rites Held For Wayne Ralston

Wayne B. Ralston of Grundy Center passed away at 9:50 a.m. Monday, March 30, at the Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo.

Funeral services were held at the First Baptist Church, Grundy Center, on Friday, April 3, at 10:30 a.m. Pastor Theodore W. Ertle officiated.

Edwin Wilson sang "How Great Thou Art" and "Amazing Grace." He was accompanied by Leonard Klinefelter, who also played selected numbers for the prelude and postlude.

The casket bearers were Harvey Mackie, Harlen Springer, Henry Eckhoff, Everett Wilson, Paul Holeman and Ray Lynch. The honorary casket bearers were Charles Baldwin, Cleo Jarrard, Elmer Newton, Mervin Baughman and Floyd Morrison.

The ushers were Ronald Bloxham and Gordon Bloxham. Mrs. Henry Eckhoff and Mrs. Ronald Bloxham were in charge of the floral arrangements.

Interment was in the Alice Cemetery, rural Conrad.

Relatives and friends were invited to return to the church following the committal services for a period of Christian fellowship and refreshments.

Mr. Ralston was born on December 24, 1909, on a farm near Conrad in Grundy county, the son of Mark E. and Victoria Bowers Ralston. He attained the age of 77 years, three months and six days.

He grew up on various farms in the Conrad area, attending rural schools and graduating from Conrad high school.

He was united in marriage on December 24, 1935, to Carol Klinefelter at the Tama First Baptist Church. He farmed all his life. In 1974, they moved and made their home in Grundy Center, but continued to farm until 1975, when he retired.

He was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Grundy Center and was also a member of the Emerald Masonic Lodge.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one infant son, Gary Wayne, and by two brothers, Bill and Bob Ralston.

He is survived by his wife, Carol of Grundy Center; one son, Roger of Bagley, WI; one daughter, Mrs. Don (Marcyne) Heitman of Bossier, LA; two brothers, Leslie Ralston of Conrad and Jerry Ralston of Oceanside, CA; four sisters, Mrs. Ira (Lorene) Gross of Des Moines, Mrs. Harry (Thelma) Price of Cedar Falls, Mrs. Truman (De Vee) Adams of Mount Vernon and Mrs. Roger (Betty) Newton of Golden, CO; and by four grandsons and two step-grandsons.

The Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home, Grundy Center, was in charge of the funeral arrangements.
