Rites Held For Ted Nederhoff

Theodore E. (Ted) Nederhoff of RR1, Wellsburg, passed away at 7:30 a.m. Friday, July 17, at the Covenant Medical Center at Ridgeway and Kimball in Waterloo.

Funeral services were held at the First Christian Reformed Church, rural Wellsburg, on Monday, July 20, at 1:30 p.m. Rev. Bruce Baillie officiated.

Richard Schafer and Larry Riebkes sang "How Great Thou Art" and "One Day At A Time." The congregation sang "Amazing Grace." The accompanist was Mrs. Jack Bakker, who also played selected numbers for the prelude and postlude.

The casket bearers were Ted VanDeest, Melvin Nederhoff, Edward Boyenga, Arnold Luiken, Ronald Luiken and Marvin Luiken.

The ushers were Jonas Geerdes and David Miller. Mrs. Harvey Eiten and Mrs. Donald Heikens were in charge of the floral arrangements.

Interment was in the church cemetery.

Relatives and friends were invited to return to the church following the committal services for a period of Christian fellowship and refreshments.

Mr. Nederhoff was born on December 28, 1911, on the same farm that he lived his entire life in Shiloh township, Grundy county, the son of Ebbo H. and Lena Riekena Nederhoff. He attained the age of 75 years, six months and 19 days.

On February 20, 1948, he was united in marriage to Louise A. Luiken at the First Baptist Church in Steamboat Rock. He retired from farming in 1977, but they continued to live on the farm.

He made his Confession of Faith and was baptized on May 1, 1949. He was a longtime member of the First Christian Reformed Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Henry and Ben Nederhoff.

He is survived by his wife, Louise of rural Wellsburg; two daughters, Carloyn Elaine at home and Susan La Vonne Harms of Eldora, and son-in-law, Mark A. Harms.

A memorial fund has been established.

The Doyen-Abels Funeral Home, Wellsburg, was in charge of the funeral arrangements.
