Rites Held For Ella Huesman

Ella Huesman of Ackley passed away Saturday, March 14, at 6 p.m. at the Presbyterian Home in Ackley.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 17, at the West Friesland Presbyterian Church. Rev. Charles Westendorf officiated.

The singers were Rev. and Mrs. Charles Westendorf. The congregation sang "Blessed Assurance." They were accompanied by organist, Ramona Harken.

Serving as pallbearers were Kevin Meyer, Kurt Meyer, Keith Huesman, Kent Meyer, Kyle Meyer and Todd Huesman. Doug Neymeyer and Eugene Harken served as ushers.

Interment was in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Huesman was born on June 1, 1896, in Grundy county, near Wellsburg, the daughter of Folkert and Hiska DeVries.

On February 9, 1920, she was united in marriage to Jans Huesman. They lived on a farm southeast of Ackley, until 1979, when she entered the Presbyterian Home.

She was a member of the West Friesland Presbyterian Church and was a faithful member of the Ladies' Aid.

She is survived by two daughters and two sons, Mrs. Reuben (Anna) Schultz of La Verne, CA; Mrs. Alvin (Fern) Meyer of Ackley; Meint of Titonka and LeRoy of Ackley; one sister, Lenora Janssen of Ackley; and two brothers, Carl of Ackley and Edward of Aplington; and by 21 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jans, in May of 1979, a daughter, Helen, in 1972, one grandchild, her parents, three brothers, Fred, Jerry and Herman, and one sister, Anna Boelman.

The Brandt & Fritz Funeral Home of Ackley was in charge of the funeral arrangements.
