Rites Held For N. Owings, 73

N. Frank Owings, 73, died Tuesday evening, March 18, 1987, at his home in Conrad. He was born November 30, 1913, Unionville, MO, the son of William L. and Elsie McKinley Owings. He received his education in Putman county, MO.

On March 26, 1934, he married Lula G. Worley at Trenton, MO. He served in the U.S. Army, WWII, at Normandy, Rhineland, Central Europe and Northern France, having served from February, 1943, to November, 1945, and received four Bronze Stars.

Mr. Owings was a retired machinist at Fisher Controls, Marshalltown, IA and resided at 213 Dwight St., Conrad, IA for the past 23 years, having moved from the Beaman area, Grundy County.

Survivors include his wife, Lula; two sons, Franklin of Bentonville, AR and Richard of Conrad; one sister, Katherine (Mrs. Raymond) Channell, Liscomb, IA; three brothers, Luther and Manuel Owings, Eldora, IA, and Keith Owings, Columbia, MO; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.

Services were held Saturday, March 21, 1987, 1:30 p.m. at the Johnston Funeral Home, Conrad with Rev. David Crow of the Conrad United Methodist Church officiating. Burial was in the Conrad Cemetery, Conrad.

Casket bearers were Franklin, Richard, Keith, Mike, Mark and Thomas Owings, John Kaupt and Richard Beeghly. Honorary casket bearers were Glenn Worley, Manuel Owings, Luther Owings and Raymond Channell. Flower bearers were Trina, Frieda and Bertha Kaput.

Arrangements were in charge of the Johnston Funeral Home, Conrad, IA.
