Della Kristensen Services Held

Funeral services for Della Kristensen were held at the United Methodist Church, Dike, IA, on Monday, March 2, 1987, at 10:30 a.m. The Rev. Shirley Textor officiated.

The congregation sang "The Old Rugged Cross". An organ-piano duet of "In The Garden" was rendered by Mrs. John Paige and Mrs. Duane Habben. They also played selected number for the prelude and postlude.

The casket bearers were Brad Meewes, Chris Schuppert, Rod Wilson, Clinton Andersen, Craig Hansen, Alfred D. Kristensen, and Richard W. Kristensen.

The ushers were John Mulder, Jack Heritage and John Volberding. Mrs. John Volberding, Mrs. Betty Knudson, and Mrs. Gerald Bruns were in charge of the floral arrangements.

Interment was in the Elmwood Cemetery, Dike, IA.

Della was born on May 30, 1908, at Dike, IA, and passed away on Thursday, February 26, at the University Hospital in Iowa City, IA. She attained the age of 78 years, eight months, and 26 days.

Her parents were Theodore and Fannie Rosetta Lee Koch. She grew up in the Dike area, attended country school, and graduated from the Dike High School in 1927.

On February 25, 1928, she was united in marriage to Hans L. Andersen in Des Moines. After their marriage they farmed in the Dike area. He passed away on February 25, 1954. In 1955, she moved and made her home in Cedar Falls, where she worked at the Sartori Memorial Hospital and later at the Wilson Shoe Store in Grundy Center.

On January 7, 1960, she was united in marriage to Alfred C. Kristensen at St. Joseph, MO. After their marriage, they lived in Cedar Falls until 1969 when they made their home in Dike. Her husband, Alfred, passed away on October 6, 1983.

She was a member of the Dike Methodist Church and the Ladies' Prayer Group.

Della was preceded in death by her parents, first and second husbands, one infant sister, Elsie, and one sister, Doris Prahm.

She is survived by one son, Mervin Andersen, rural Dike; two daughters, Mrs. Lester (Norma) Meeves of Cedar Rapids and Mrs. Marvin (Margie) Multhauf of rural Hudson; two stepsons, Richard W. Kristensen of Los Altos, CA, and Alfred D. Kristensen of Burlington; one brother, Laurence Koch of Dike; one sister, Mrs. Al (Vera) Camarata of Cedar Falls; eight grandchildren; five step-grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

The Dike Funeral Chapel was in charge of the funeral arrangements.
