Services Held For Thomas Dreesman, 72

Thomas D. Dreesman of Waverly and formerly of Holland passed away at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 7, at the Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo.

Funeral services were held at the Holland Christian Reformed Church, Holland, on Wednesday, June 10, at 10 a.m. Pastor Arthur Ames and Pastor B. Edward Baker officiated.

Mrs. Dean Woelber sang "How Great Thou Art," "There's Room At The Cross For You" and "Abide With Me." She was accompanied by Mrs. Raymond Hinders, who also played selected numbers for the prelude and postlude.

The casket bearers were Glenn Dreesman, Bill Dreesman, Lloyd Dreesman, Clarence Ennenga, Dale Ennenga and LeRoy Ennenga.

The ushers were Herman Akkerman and John Seehusen. Mrs. Joseph Junker and Mrs. Dennis Hook were in charge of the floral arrangements.

Interment was in the Holland Cemetery, Holland.

Relatives and friends were invited to return to the church following the committal services for a period of Christian fellowship and refreshments.

Mr. Dreesman was born on September 26, 1914, in Grundy county, near Holland, the son of Dick and Bertha Ennenga Dreesman. He attained the age of 72 years, eight months and 11 days.

He grew up in the Holland area and attended rural school. On August 22, 1940, he was united in marriage to Alida Poppen, at the Pleasant Valley Reformed Church, rural Holland.

After their marriage, they farmed in Lincoln, Washington, Beaver and Colfax townships and also near Aplington for three years. In 1970, they moved and made their home in Holland. On August 21, 1979, his wife, Alida, passed away. He continued to live in Holland until March of 1985, when he made his home in Waverly.

He was a long time member of the Colfax Center Presbyterian Church. Recently he joined the Orchard Hill Reformed Church in Cedar Falls.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Alida, and by one sister, Grace Aswegan.

He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Matt (Linda) Gogel of Cedar Falls and Mrs. Troy (Susan) Rewerts of Waverly; one brother, Sam Dreesman of Dike; one sister, Mrs. Ida Aswegan of Grundy Center, and by one grandson, Dustin Rewerts.

A memorial fund has been established.

The Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home, Grundy Center, was in charge of the funeral arrangements.
