Services For Anna M. Ross Held Monday
Funeral services for Mrs. Anna M. Ross were held at 1:30 p.m. May 12 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Wellsburg. Pastor C. Langhans officiated at the services.
Two selections were sung by the congregation. Mrs. Norman Harms was organist.
Flower attendants were Mrs. Alvin Harms and Mrs. Edwin Peters.
Casket bearers were Leland Heinrich, Paul Peters, Roger Hippen, Leon Harms, Ronald deNeui, and Kenneth Cordes. The interment service was held in Shiloh cemetery in Wellsburg.
The arrangements were in charge of the Doyen Funeral Home.
Mrs. Ross passed away Saturday morning, May 10, at the Des Moines General Hospital due to cancer. She reached the age of 90 years, 9 months and 10 days.
She was born July 30, 1895, at Reinbeck, the daughter of Ludvig and Dorthea (Hinz) Wulf. The family later moved to Wellsburg where she received her early education in the Wellsburg Public School. She attended the State Normal College in Cedar Falls, and taught in the local schools.
On March 19, 1920, she was married to Will W. Ross at the St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church Parsonage near Wellsburg, by the Rev. C. Heinrich. Following their marriage they made their home on the Ross Family Farm, northwest of Wellsburg. In 1948 they moved to a farm near Holland. In the fall of 1959, they retired from the farm and moved to Wellsburg.
Her husband passed away on May 1, 1973.
She was a long-time member of the St. Johns Lutheran Church of Wellsburg and was a member of the Ladies Aid and the Community Senior Citizens Group.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, a son Robert; 2 sisters, Mrs. Emma Lewis and Mrs. Augusta Lutterman; a sister in infancy, 5 brothers, August, Emil, Louis, Walter and William Wulf.
Survivors include 3 daughters and one son, Mrs. Lois Kerns of Des Moines, Mrs. Arley (Darlene) Blankenburg of Marion, Kenneth Ross of Nashua, Mrs. Robert (Thelma) Voetberg of Johnston; 10 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mathilda Wulf of Des Moines and many other relatives and friends.
