Mrs. Henry Konken died at the home of her oldest son, Hange K. last Wednesday afternoon at 1 p.m. Old age is assigned as the cause and for several weeks she was very low and when the end came it was not unexpected. The deceased's maiden name was Simjte Terbeck. She was born in Ostfriesland Germany March 13 1823 and was therefore 81 years and 6 months old, but she bore her age well until recently and finally had to succumb to the grim reaper. She was a kind and good mother and grandmother, and was loved the same by children and grandchildren. The deceased was united in marriage in the early 40's to Henry Konken a widower with two children, his wife having been a sister of hers. One of the now deceased's step-daughters died in Germany about a month ago. The other Mrs. Wm. Wiltfang of Parkersburg survives her. The union was blessed with five children, four boys and one girl, two whom have passed away. In the 50's her husband was taken from her side and she was left alone to take care of the children. In the year of 1882 the deceased removed to America and has since been staying with her children. She is survived by two sons Hange and Harm of this township, one daughter Mrs. H. Roelfs of Minnesota. A large number of grandchildren, and also several great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the Lutheran church Friday p.m. conducted by Rev. Voss. The remains were interred in the cemetery near the church. About forty teams followed the remains to its last resting place.
