Sam Ross Family Bereaved By Death
10-Month Infant Succumbs to Combined Attack of Whooping Cough and Pneumonia
Just as the Sam Ross family was preparing to move back to the old home neighborhood from Kanawha, to make their home on the Jerry Peters farm, formerly the Siefken farm, in Colfax township, the dark shadow of death entered their family circle and took away little Simon Sherwood, an infant of 10 months.
The child was taken to the hospital at Hampton, suffering with whooping cough, and this, complicated with pneumonia, ended its life last Monday night.
Funeral services took place at the Presbyterian church in Colfax township on Wednesday. Rev. Wierenga, of Kanawha, the family's pastor had charge of the services, assisted by Rev. John E. Drake. Interment was made in the Colfax Presbyterian cemetery.
Those who mourn the infant's passing are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Ross, a sister and a brother. The funeral was held from the home of the grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. William Getting.
Little Simon was born April 21, 1929 and died February 24, 1930, aged ten months and three days.
A large number of the friends of the bereaved young parents attended the funeral in token of their sympathy in the loss of the little one.
Card of Thanks.
We wish to return to the many friends and neighbors our sincere and heartfelt thanks and appreciation of their many acts of kindly service rendered, and their warm sympathy expressed, during the sickness and death of our beloved infant. Our hearts have been deeply touched by your loving kindness and we thank you, one and all.
