Helen Lorene Fink Kleespie, 90, of Conrad died Nov. 3, 2001, at the Colonial Manor, Elma, Iowa.

Services were held Tuesday morning, Nov. 6, at the Alice Church of God in rural Conrad, with Pastor James Snare officiating. Burial was in the Alice Union Cemetery. Johnston Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. A memorial fund has been established.

Helen was born Sept. 24, 1911, in Grundy County to Ralph and Clara (Whitmire) Fink.

She graduated from Conrad High School in 1929 and attended college at Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls. Helen taught rural school at Lincoln #3 in Tama County for 13 years.

On March 3, 1941, Helen was married to Kenneth James Kleespie in Macon, Mo. They farmed in the Conrad, Grundy Center and Tama area before retirement in 1979. Helen moved to Conrad in 1984 and entered Colonial Manor in Elma in 1996.

Helen was a member of the Alice Church of God, Alice WCSC, Conrad American Legion Auxiliary, Mid Circle Club and the Grundy County Farm Bureau.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, and husband, Kenneth, on Aug. 14, 1983.

She is survived by a daughter, Kendra Sue Kleespie, of Elma; two sisters, Mrs. Dorothy (Dale) Callaway of Conrad and Mrs. Donna (William) Mincks of Cedar Falls, nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Brad Hooper, George Hooper, Brian Turner, Vincent Ware, Roger Bristley and Donald G. Ralston. Margaret Kline was organist.
