William Chester VanderWerf, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. W. C. VanderWerf, passed to the Great Beyond Wednesday at 9:00 p.m., Dec. 8, 1920, aged eleven days. The cause of his death was premature birth. All that loving hands could do was done, but we must bow our heads in humble submission to the will of God. The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away; blessed be his name. The funeral was held at the home Friday afternoon by Rev. Geo. Bitzer of Ackley, Iowa, and the remains were taken to Miller cemetery.

Mrs. Ora Kennedy of Bucklin, Mo., a twin sister of Mrs. VanderWerf, was here to attend the funeral; also Mr. and Mrs. Charley VanTiger of Grundy Center, Ia.

The heart-broken parents and relatives have the sympathy of the community.

"Tis hard to break the tender cord when love has bound the heart. 'Tis hard to speak the words: "We must forever Part." Dearest loved one we must lay thee in they peaceful grave's embrace, but they memory will be cherished, 'till we see thy heavenly face.

--Ackley World Journal (Ackley, Iowa), 16 December 1920
