Mildred "Millie" L. Knutson, 81, of Eldora, passed away on Friday, January 6, 2012 at the Hospice of North Iowa in Mason City due to complications from an automobile accident. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 11th, 10:30 A.M. at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Eldora with Pastor David Splett officiating. Interment will be held at the Shiloh Cemetery in Wellsburg. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 10th from 4 to 7 P.M. at Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora.

Millie was born on August 2, 1930 in Grundy County, Iowa, the daughter of William & Nellie (Ackerman) Deters. She grew up in Wellsburg where she attended school and graduated from Wellsburg High School in 1947. She married Harold Knutson in September of 1953 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. The couple welcomed 5 children. Millie and Harold later divorced. She worked many jobs throughout her life including United Suppliers, Pfizer Seed Corn and most recently at Boyt Luggage, where she retired from, working there for over ten years.

Millie was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Eldora, was a part of the Ruth & Naomi Circles and also was a part of the Ladies Aide at the church. She loved to read, knit, play board games, had a love for Cardinals and enjoyed Saturday morning coffee with her family. What Millie most enjoyed was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her children Kathie (Larry) Akkerman of Parkersburg, IA, Kevin (Jane) Knutson of Iowa Falls, IA Melanie Stark of Holland, IA, Kristi (Kenny) Primus of Steamboat Rock, IA and Kirk Knutson of Bangkok, Thailand; grandchildren Tim (Robbyn) Diamond of Wellsburg, Melissa (Ryan) West of Rickman, TN, Kandace (Mike) Behrhorst of Iowa Falls, Klint Knutson, who is currently serving in the armed forces in Afghanistan, Shanna Diamond of Urbandale, Neal Diamond of Reinbeck, Sydnee Stark of Eldora, Skylar Stark of Iowa City, Kameron Taylor of Holland, Jordan Primus of Iowa City and Bailey Primus of Steamboat Rock; great-grandchildren Claire & Colton Diamond, Aubrey West, Addison, Savanna & Makenna Behrhorst, Daniel, Damien & Ericka Ramirez, Serenity Diamond and Brylee Eischen; brothers Rodney & Wallace Deters of Wellsburg. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother Ronald Deters and sisters-in-law June Krause, Aldean Harless & Inez Deters.
