Obituary

Mrs. Bauke Junker, nee Bauke Heerts, passed away on June 2, 1948, after a lingering illness at the age of 84 years, 2 months and 15 days. Mrs. Junker was born March 18, 1864, in Manslagt, Germany, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hert Heerts. She came to America in 1869 with her parents, settling in Illinois and later moving to Grundy County, Iowa. On March 29, 1886, the departed was married to Rudolf B. Junker. Twelve children, nine daughters and three sons, blessed this union. The family lived on a farm near Buck Grove for 35 years.

In 1921 Mr. and Mrs. Junker moved to Aplington and lived there until their respective departures. On July 25, 1943, the departed sister made confession of her faith and became a member of the Aplington Reformed church. She desired to be relieved from her suffering and longed to be with her Lord whom she confessed. Mr. Junker and five daughters preceded her in death. She is survived by her sorrowing children: four daughter, Mrs. Lupke Hook, Mrs. Fred Sents, Mrs. George Ludeman, all of Aplington, and Mrs. Clarence Meester of Parkersburg; three sons, Ben and John of Aplington and Ed Junker of Cedar Falls; 17 grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; two sisters, Miss Wilmka Heerts and Mrs. Tonjes Meyer.
