Harriet Marie (Entwisle) Konichek, 97, of Grundy Center, died September 6 at the Grundy Care Center.
Funeral services were September 8 at the United Methodist Church, West Union. Burial was in the Smithfield Cemetery at Volney, Iowa.
Harriet was born on February 20, 1904, near Monona, the daughter of Charles Jacob and Cora May (Flack) Entwisle. She attended country school near Volney.
On October 24, 1927, Harriet was united in marriage to John Albert Konichek and to this union were born six children. They farmed near Wadena for 13 years and then near Castalia for eight years. In 1960 they moved to West Union where John worked for area farmers and Harriet stayed home and cared for their children. In 1977 John and Harriet moved to Grundy Center to be near their family.
Harriet enjoyed playing bingo, cards, cooking for her family and visiting about the "olden days."
She was preceded in death by her husband in January of 1987, one son, Gene Konichek; one daughter, Jackie Folkerts; her parents; three brothers; three sisters; and two great-grandchildren.
Survivors include three daughters, Vera Cline of Decorah, Sandra and husband Calvin Kiewiet of Grundy Center and Carol and husband Larry Williams of Platte City, MO; one son, Norman and wife Linda Konicheck of Eagle, WI; 26 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
