John Warner was born in Bavaria, Germany, in 1812, and died at Reinbeck, Iowa, January 12, 1897.

In 1846 he came to Baltimore, Md., where he lived for four years. He then moved to Myresville, Penn., where he united with the Dunkard church. In 1861 he moved to Blackhawk county, Iowa, and was engaged in farming there until 1879, when he retired and has been living with his children ever since. He was the father of twelve children, eight of whom are living. They are: Mr. J. Warner, of Canton, Dakota; Mrs. J. F. Wilson, Eureka, Dakota; Mrs. B. Tompkins and Mr. S. Warner, Grundy Center; Mrs. J. Hostetler, Accident, Md.; Mrs. P. P. Bailey, Harper, Kan.; Mrs. C. Budd, Des Moines; and Mrs. Wm. Gibson, Reinbeck, at whose home he died last Thursday afternoon, aged 84 years, 5 months and 10 days. He had been in poor health for about four months during which time he suffered patiently and uncomplainingly. He was a true devoted Christian for upwards of fifty years. Funeral services were held at the Congregational church in Reinbeck at 9:30 Thursday morning, the pastor, Rev. H. E. Warner, officiating, and the remains were taken to Grundy Center for burial in Fairview cemetery to wait the final call.
