Died, in German township, Grundy county, Iowa, on the 27th day of September, 1894, Brechtje Reinders Aukes, born on the first day of November, 1812, at Suurhusen, Ostfriesland, Germany. Deceased married Edze B. Aukes in 1833. They were blessed with nine children. In the year 1871 her husband died and three of her children have also gone before her. In the year 1881 she came with one of her daughters to this country and has always made her good home with her. She leaves six children: two in Germany, one in Minnesota, Dr. E. E. Aukes of Cortland, Nebraska, and Mrs. F. Smith and D. E. Aukes of German township, this county.
