An old soldier and aged minister has gone. Rev. H. H. Stall quietly passed away March 30 at the home of his son two miles east of Beaman, Iowa. He had been in feeble health for a long time yet his death came with a shock to the loved ones.
He responded to his country's call in 1862 and enlisted under Captain Hubbard of the 20th Iowa Infantry, where he fought faithfully for his country until honorably discharged on account of disability.
He was twice married. First to Miss Anna Brandabury, and eighteen years later to Miss Rebecca Monteith. To the first union were born four children, two of whom preceded the parents to the better land.
Less than seven months ago he buried his aged companion and since has been full of sorrow and care. He was 77 years, 5 months and 28 days old when he died. But two children remain to mourn, Mr. Orlando Stall, at whose home the father died, and Mrs. Wallace. The entire community extends to them their sympathy.
