A Noble Woman Called Home

Mrs. Wells, wife of Jos. Wells, corner of 12th and Washington streets, died Wednesday morning at 11 o'clock, after a protracted and painful illness. Deceased was born at Hoosick Falls, N. Y., December 1st, 1824, and was sixty years of age at the time of her death. She was married to Jos. Wells in Cayuga county, N. Y., March 1st, 1849. They moved to Illinois where they lived for several years and in 1855 they moved to Grundy county, four years ago they moved from their farm to this city. She leaves a husband, two sons and two daughters, all grown, who were home at the time of her death. Her son-in-law, E. K. Guernsey, who had been at Alta for some weeks past, arrived an hour before she died. The family circle was first broken some four years since by the death of a lovely daughter aged four years, of diptheria. Deceased has been a member of the M. E. church for many years, having united a year previous to their marriage. Funeral services will be held at the M. E. church today at 12:45 p.m., sermon by Rev. Hurlburt, assisted by Rev. Coleman. Interment in Fairfield cemetery, eight miles west of this city. A faithful wife and devoted mother has gone to her reward.--Cedar Falls Gazette
