On Sabbath morning, September 4th, 1892, after a long and painful illness, May D. Vasey, peacefully fell asleep.

Mrs. Vasey, who was the daughter of Wm. and Hattie M. Porter, of Des Moines, Iowa, was born July 5, 1861, and was married to Albert Vasey June 11, 1889. Since this time her home has been near Grundy Center. After her marriage she united with the Presbyterian church of this place and by words and life gave undoubted assurance of the sincerity of her profession. Her faith and trust sustained her during the long months of suffering and kept her uniformly patient and cheerful. Then when she came to the "Valley of the shadow of death" she did not need to walk alone and so she "feared no evil." She found her Saviour there with his rod and staff to aid and comfort her.

The funeral services which were held at the family residence were conducted by her pastor, Rev. D. W. McLane, and were very solemn and impressive. The choir of the church conducted the singing, using the favorite songs of the deceased. The large concourse of friends who gathered to unite in these services was evidence of the esteem in which she was held.

The sorrowing friends have the sincere sympathy of all.

--The Grundy County Republican (Grundy Center, Iowa), 8 September 1892
