ALLARD, DAVIS

On Monday evening, June 6, 1892, there was a gloom cast over this community by the sad intelligence that Mrs. S. Allard had died at her home in Grant township, aged 64 years, 9 months and 23 days. She was born in Quebec, Canada, August 13, 1827, and was the daughter of James Davis, a prominent citizen of that place. In 1846 she was united to S. H. Allard and moved to Ogle county, Illinois, and in 1885, she left that place to make her home in this county. She joined the church early in life and was a faithful christian worker, and she was fully resigned to quit the present without regret and meet the future without distrust. Her husband and three of her sons preceded her to the silent shore. The funeral services were conducted at her home by the Advent minister, and the remains were followed to their last resting place in Fairfield cemetery by a large concourse of relatives and friends. She leaves four sons and five daughters to mourn the loss of a christian mother, but they do not mourn as without hope. For I am the resurrection and the life saith the Lord; they that believed in me though they were dead yet shall they live. The family has the sympathy of the entire community in their bereavement.
