This community was saddened, Monday morning, by the intelligence that W. Y. Minteer, who has been in poor health for some time, was dead. He was born in Armstrong county, Pennsylvania, June 4, 1827, and moved from there to Illinois in 1855, where he connected himself with the Presbyterian church at Woodhull in 1866. In 1868 he moved to Tama county, Iowa, and from there he moved to his late home, two miles north of Conrad, in 1871. He was one of the pioneers of Grundy county, and a citizen of high moral worth. Mr. Minteer has been a member of the Presbyterian church of Conrad for a number of years and was a faithful member and consistent christian. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Anthony. The remains were followed to their last resting place in Conrad cemetery by a large concourse of relatives and friends. He leaves a wife and several grown children to mourn his death.--Conrad Journal
