Miss Alena Hickman passed away around 8 o'clock Tuesday evening at the Grundy Co. Memorial Hospital due to a stroke. She had been taken to the hospital early Tuesday afternoon.

She was born October 16, 1895, on a farm in German township, Grundy county. Her parents were Mr. and Mrs. John Hickman. She attended the rural school in the area. After the passing away of her father in 1916, the family moved to Wellsburg. She had resided in Wellsburg since that time. She reached the age of 69 years, four months, and 23 days.

She was a member of the Wellsburg Reformed Church, having made confession of her faith in Jesus Christ on March 27, 1927.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and one half sister Tillie, Mrs. Richard J. Lindaman.

She is survived by one sister; Miss Adela Hickman of Wellsburg, one niece and three nephews.

Funeral services were held on Friday afternoon at 1:30 pm at the Doyen Funeral Home. Rev. Gideon Wolbrink was officiating minister. Music was given by a men's quartet, Richard Ross, Irwin Abels, Harold Lindaman, and Eugene Ruter accompanied by Miss Marcella Neessen. Mrs. John Heinrich and Mrs. Margaret Eygabroad were flower attendants.

Pallbearers were John Weichers, John Heinrich, Douglas Geerdes, George Hoodjer, Otta Tjaden, and Delbert Ross. Interment was made in the Ref. church cemetery.
