Edward Sietsema, 84, passed away Saturday, February 25, at his home in Wellsburg of natural causes.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 28, at 1:30 p.m. at the Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church, rural Wellsburg with Pastor James Beranek officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers were Phillip Stief, Ronald Fisher, Lee Okones, Douglas Sietsema, Ryan Steinfeldt and Matthew Steinfeldt. Honorary pallbearers were Gary Mennenga and Neil Okones.

A memorial fund has been established.

Edward was born on November 11, 1910 in Pleasant Valley township, Grundy county, the son of George and Gertie (Haan) Sietsema. Edward graduated from the Wellsburg High School in 1928. He married Beulah DeVries on September 19, 1941, in Grundy county. They farmed together all their lives until retirement in 1970, when they moved into town.

He was a member of the Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 grandson, Andrew Stief; 1 sister, Jennie Fisher; and 2 brothers, John and Harvey.

Survivors include his wife, Beulah of Wellsburg; 2 daughters, Verda (Charles) Stief of Marshalltown and Beth (Gary) Steinfeldt of Seymour; 2 sisters, Matilda Okones of Wellsburg and Esther Mennenga of Ackley; 2 brothers, George and Herman Sietsema of Wellsburg; 6 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and 11 nieces and nephews.

The Doyen-Abels Funeral Home, Wellsburg, was in charge of the professional arrangements.
