Funeral services were yesterday at 2 p.m. at Engelkes funeral home for Ben Schutte, who died Wednesday at Christie convalescent home, Cedar Falls, from complications of old age; born in Germany, Sept. 11, 1849, and came to U. S. when young man; taken to Grundy county farm home about 12 years ago and went from there to the county home in Hardin county until two years ago when he entered the home in Cedar Falls; preceded in death by his wife, who died 58 years ago; survived by two daughters, Mrs. Jans Cooper, Fosteria, Ia., and Mrs. Charles Fisher, Albion, Neb.; one son, Benjamin Schutte, Cherokee; burial in Colfax Center Presbyterian church cemetery.
