Mrs. Ella Claassen Died Saturday
Mrs. Ella Claassen died Saturday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Dick Rewerts, at Allison. Death was due to advanced age. She was 87 years old.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at the home of Sam Hayes near Dike and later at Salem Lutheran church in Beaver township. Burial was in the cemetery adjoining the church.
Mrs. Claassen was born in Germany March 10, 1860. She was twice married. Her first husband was Lubbert Hayes. The couple was married in Germany and the first husband died there. In 1898 she was married to Luppe Claassen. The couple came to this country shortly after their marriage and located on a farm near Dike.
Surviving are the son, Sam Hayes, and the daughter at Allison. There are 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. There are four step-children: Claas, Sam and Eilt Claassen of Grundy Center and Mrs. John Freerksen, Eldora. She was preceded in death by her two husbands, one daughter who died in infancy and one son, Henry Hayes who died last year.
