John Loots was born in Germany, Aug. 15th, 1852, and passed away at his home in this city October 15th, 1922, aged 70 years and 2 months.

He came to Illinois in 1873, and later to Grundy county where he was married to Miss Annie Corich. They made their home on a farm west of town for a number of years. Two sons, George and Albert, were born to them and survive the father.

Mrs. Loots died March 1st, 1897, and he was married again to Mrs. John Leisson, June 18th, 1900, in Wellsburg. They lived on a farm near that place until 1918 when they moved to this city.

Mr. Loots was seized with heart trouble October 2nd last from which he never recovered.

Funeral services were from the home and later from the Drake church on Wednesday, Oct. 18th.

Those who attended the funeral from a distance were: Mr. and Mrs. Bert Borchers, Mr. and Mrs. Harm Folkerts, of Garner; Ben Loots, Mrs. Wieman, of Pomeroy; Geo. Loots, Mrs. Aug. Lichter, of Manson; Mrs. Geo. DeVries, Sibley; Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Miller, Little Rock; Mr. Geo. Stein, of Ellendorf, Mrs. John Sherman, Spencer; Mr. and Mrs. Albert Nieman, Kanawha.
