Came to County in 1883

Konrad Kruse died at his home in this city about 8:30 Sunday evening from heart failure. Mr. Kruse felt as well as usual during the day. For a man of his years he was considered unusually strong physically. After finishing his chores Sunday evening Mr. Kruse complained of a slight trouble in his chest and that he was tired. For that reason he decided to go to bed early. He sat on the edge of his bed and was removing his clothes when the attack of the heart came on. He fell to the floor and he breathed his last within a few minutes.

Funeral services conducted by Rev. Gravenstein were held at the German Presbyterian church in this city at twelve o'clock today and there was a very large attendance. The remains were laid to rest in the family lot at Drake's church in Colfax township.

Mr. Kruse was 72 years and 11 days old at the time of this death. He was born in Roschum, Ostfriesland, Sept. 10th., 1841. In 1865 he came to this county and located on a farm near Forreston, Ill. At this place he was married to Gretje Hassebrock, January 17th, 1867. In 1883 the family moved to Grundy county. They bought a farm in Colfax township which Mr. Kruse still owned at the time of his death. In 1900 Mr. Kruse and his family moved to Grundy Center where they have resided continually since that time. Mr. Kruse was a good business man; he was a believer in the growing values of Grundy county land and he became the owner of a section of it.

Mr. Kruse is survived by the wife and ten children. The children are Sweerin S. Reints, Tom Reints, A. C. Kruse, Mrs. Frerichs, Rev. A. C. Kruse, Mrs. Barney Ables, Mrs. Walter Bakker, H. Kruse, Mrs. D. H. Dieken, Mrs. J. H. Ables and John Kruse.
