Albert L. Aswegan, 82, 606 4th St., Melbourne, died Sunday, July 4, at his home.

Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Pursel-Davis Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Beverlee Bell of Melbourne United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Alice Cemetery, Conrad.

Friends may call after 3 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Masonic Rites will be held Wednesday at 7 p.m. by the Marshall Lodge 108 AF and AM. A memorial fund has been established in his name.

He was born Aug. 5, 1910 at Fern, Iowa, the son of Louie and Olga Pieper Aswegan. He was raised and educated near Fern and Cogswell, N. D. He was employed as a machinist for Fisher Controls for 10 years, retiring in 1972.

He was married to Pearl Harris on July 2, 1931, in Toledo.

He was a member of the Melbourne United Methodist Church and Mistic Lodge 213 of Aitken, Minn.

Survivors include his wife Pearl, Melbourne; four daughters, Gladys (Mrs. Richard) Eveland, Apache Junction, Ariz., Clara (Mrs. Pat) Lawler, Gravois Mills, Mo., Betty (Mrs. David) Ellenwood, Fredricksburg, Va., and Virginia (Mrs. Jack) Scoonover, Des Moines; five sons, Gene, Las Vegas, Nev., Albert Jr., Wealthwood, Minn., Dale, Thornton, Colo., Ronald, Waverly, and Jim, Wabash, Ind.; two brothers, LeRoy, Big Pine, Fla., and Floyd, Union; 45 grandchildren; 80 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Don in 1972, and Earl in 1993; an infant daughter; and one brother.
