Beatrice Draper, of Eldora, died May 23 of natural causes at the Eldora Regional Medical Center in Eldora having attained the age of 90 years.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 26, at 1 p.m. at the Ivester Church of the Brethren in rural Grundy County. Pastor Marlene Neher officiated the service. Interment followed in the Sheller Cemetery, rural Grundy county.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

Beatrice was born March 7, 1903, in Gardner, Kansas to John and Marguerite Gordon Albright. Beatrice moved from Kansas to Grundy County in her early years as a child. The family moved back to Kansas and returned to Grundy County in Beatrice's teens. She graduated from Steamboat Rock High School in 1921 and continued her education at Ellsworth Community College where she received her teachers certificate.

Beatrice had taught in several one room schools in Grundy and Hardin County. Beatrice was united in marriage to Ernest Draper June 3, 1926, in Marshalltown. Four children were born to this union.

Beatrice and Ernest farmed for nearly 30 years in Grundy county before moving to Eldora in 1955. Beatrice not only worked as a teacher, but she also worked part-time in the Mutz Style Shop and Graham's Store in Eldora.

Beatrice was a member of Ivester Church of the Brethren, MOH (Make Others Happy) Club, Eldora Women's Club, Mid-Country Club, and the Eldora Methodist Women's Group.

Beatrice was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest in 1979; a son, Manly in 1991; her parents; and 2 sisters, Bernice and Gertrude.

Beatrice is survived by her son Lloyd and wife Arlene of Grundy Center; 2 daughters, Colleen and husband Thad Jones of Perryton, Texas and Eleanor and husband Dennis Hubbard of Boulder, Colorado; 8 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Golda and husband Rudolph Covey of Cleveland, Tennessee.

The Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora was in charge of the arrangements.
