Services for Roy Petersen, 80, formerly of Eldora, who died Tuesday, March 12 at the Iowa Veterans Home, Marshalltown, will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Creps-Abels Funeral Home, Eldora. The Rev. David Splett will officiate. Burial will be at Melrose Cemetery, rural Grundy Center.

Friends may call at the Creps-Abels Funeral Home Thursday from 3-9 p.m. and 9 a.m. until service time Friday. A memorial fund has been established.

He was born Dec. 26, 1910 in Cook County, Nebraska, to Andrew and Dorothy Mueller Petersen. He graduated from Trinity Lutheran High School in 1926.

On Aug. 22, 1937 he married Gail Boike in Boone. They lived in Boone, later moving to Eldora where he farmed and worked at the Eldora State Training School. He retired in 1973.

He was a veteran of World War II.

He was preceded in death by a sister.

He is survived by his wife, Gail, Iowa Veterans Home, Marshalltown; a son, Steven, rural Eldora; three daughters, Karen Seelye and Jackie Beane, both of Lancaster, Wisc., and Linda Sawin, Coralville; a sister, Vivian Williams, Marshalltown; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
