James Dunn, who died Mar. 29, was born Dec. 10, 1815, near Morgantown, W. Va. He was married on April 20, 1837, to Elizabeth Ann Shuff, who passed away Jan. 17, 1896. To them were born 16 children, 12 boys and 4 girls.

In the spring of 1862 they moved west to Allamakee county in northeastern Iowa, where they resided 4 years, moving to Felix twp., Grundy Co., in the spring of 1866, where he spent the rest of his life.

For almost 55 years, Mr. Dunn was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church, during which time he lived a consistent Christian life.

He leaves to mourn his loss, 7 sons and 2 daughters, also 42 grandchildren, and 50 great-grandchildren.

The funeral services were conducted at the Melrose Methodist Episcopal church by the pastor, Rev. C. S. Burnard, on Sunday, March 31st, at 11 a.m., and the interment was in the Melrose cemetery. A large number of friends of the deceased attended the services and followed the remains to the grave.
