Margaret "Peg" Cramer, 93, of Grundy Center, Iowa, passed away Thursday, April 1, 2010, at Grundy County Memorial Hospital in Grundy Center, Iowa. Funeral Services will be 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, April 7, 2010, at the United Methodist Church in Grundy Center, Iowa, with Pastor Matt Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Grundy Center. Visitation will be on Tuesday, April 6, 2010, from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center. Memorials may be directed to the family.
Peg was born September 4, 1916 in Grundy Center, Iowa, the daughter of Fredrick and Catherine (Bakker) Graves. She attended school in Grundy Center and graduated from Grundy Center High School in 1934. After graduation she worked at J.C. Penney in Grundy Center until her marriage to Raleigh F. Cramer in April of 1938. After her children graduated from school she went to work for Grundy Style Shop for 2 years. Peg liked to knit, paint, play word games and play cards. She had a great love for music and was a beautiful singer. Peg enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Peg is survived by 2 daughters, Kathryn (Kay) Sokol of San Bernardino, CA, Carol Abercrombie of Grundy Center; one son, Allen (Paula) Cramer of Grundy Center, 5 grandchildren Cynthia Plessel, Elizabeth Sokol and David (Rene) Sokol all of San Bernardino, CA; Chad Cramer, Jodi (Mark) Appel all of Grundy Center; 4 great grandsons; Carl "C.J." Vince and Jason Sokol of San Bernardino, CA; Brady and Chase Appel, 2 step-great grandchildren Austin and Kaylie Appel all of Grundy Center, a sister-in-law, Isabelle Diehm of Des Moines; plus several nieces and nephews.
Peg was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, son-in-law Bill Abercrombie; four brothers, Herman, Carl, Ben, Walter (Bob) and two sisters, Lisetta "Dot" Dudden and Lois Hansen.
