Verne "Bud" Brandt, 85, of Reinbeck, Iowa, died Monday, January 25, 2010, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo, Iowa. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M., Friday, January 29, 2010, at First Presbyterian Church in Reinbeck, Iowa, with Pastor Michael Campbell officiating. Burial will follow at the Reinbeck Cemetery in Reinbeck, Iowa. Visitation will be Thursday, January 28, 2010, from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at French Hand Funeral Home in Reinbeck. A memorial fund has been established.

Verne Ray Brandt was born September 17, 1924, in Reinbeck, Iowa, the son of Otto and Edna (Willer) Brandt. He was born and raised in the Reinbeck area. He received his education by attending school in Reinbeck, Iowa. After school he started working for Greiner Farms, he later went to work as a mechanic for Rump Motors in Reinbeck. Verne was united in marriage to Eloise Henricks on December 20, 1960 at the First Presbyterian Church in Reinbeck. Verne and Eloise lived in Reinbeck area all their married life. Verne worked for Richter Stock Farms where he retired from in 1986. After his retirement he continued to work odd jobs in the area. Verne was a long time member of The First Presbyterian Church in Reinbeck. Verne loved the outdoors especially fishing, hunting, mowing lawns and driving the country side looking over the scenery. He enjoyed listening to country and polka music. Verne had a talent for grilling the best steaks and chicken on the grill. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Verne is survived by his wife, Eloise of Reinbeck; children, Eldon Giesking of Lincoln; Sandra Caryof Waterloo; Marcia Seymour of Marshalltown; Brenda (Allen) Bown of Reinbeck; Gaylen Brandt of Lincoln; 16 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; one brother, Dale(Hazel) Brandt of Reinbeck.

Preceding him in death were his parents; a brother Leonard.
