Leslie Hoodjer Services Held
Leslie John Hoodjer, 46, passed away on July 26 at the Grundy County Hospital.
Funeral services were held on July 29 at 10:30 a.m. at the Second Christian Reformed Church in Wellsburg with the Rev. H. Charles Kooger officiating.
Burial was in the Shiloh Township Cemetery in Wellsburg.
Pallbearers were Larry Meyer, Harvin Meyer, Lynn Meyer, Don Heikens, John J. Abbas, and Lee Riebkes.
Leslie was the son of John and Gertrude Meyer Hoodjer. He was born on September 23, 1944, at the Eldora Hospital. Les attended Wellsburg Community School.
On March 29, 1963, he was united in marriage to Arlene Brandt at the Washington Reformed Church, Ackley.
Les worked at Dolmage Farm (Sunnybrook), Grundy Center, the past two years and has been a truck driver for many different people including: Hippen Ready Mix, Delbert Hippen Grinding and Shelling, and Potgeter Elevator. He was a devoted husband and father.
He instilled Christian values in his life and the lives of his children. He enjoyed attending functions of his church and his children (especially family gatherings). He had served on Consistory and as Assistant Sunday School Superintendent. He was a long time member of the Wellsburg Community Club.
Les is survived by his wife Arlene, one son, Lonnie John and wife Jenny of Davenport; two daughters, Dorene Joy of Wellsburg and Danelle Jean of Wellsburg; his parents, John and Gertrude Hoodjer of Wellsburg; three brothers, Wayne of Grundy Center, Gary and Jay of Wellsburg; two sisters, Joyce Badrick of Miles, and Carol White of Marshalltown.
The Doyen-Abels Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
