Henry Greenfield Cut His Throat Early Yesterday Morning
Grundy Center, Nov. 1.--Henry Greenfield, who lives on the Holt farm north of town, stabbed himself in the throat at an early hour yesterday morning, making an incision in one of the arteries of the neck, and a cut on his wrist which caused him to slowly bleed to death. The body was discovered in an upstairs bedroom by his wife, who called a neighbor, John Rabenberg, to her assistance. The unfortunate man was found lying on a bed, but a short distance away from the bed was a pool of blood which had become clotted. Mr. Rabenberg hastened to town and sent Dr. McAlvin out, but the suicide had severed the artery enough to accomplish his purpose and he died shortly after the doctor arrived, being so far gone that his life could not be saved. Mr. Greenfield was an industrious man, but was a victim of strong drink, and had been drinking quite heavy of late. The deceased leaves a wife who has the sympathy of the community.
