Tonjes Voogd, a German who came to this country last February, and who for the last season has been working for Mr. Coombs, north-west of Ackley, on New Years came to Wellsburg, and partaking too liberally of the stuff for sale there started up the railroad track to go home and it is thought froze to death. He had fallen and struck his head against the rail. The verdict of the coroner's jury was that he came to his death by freezing while in a state of intoxication. The young man when found had $20 on his person and his employer testified that he owed him $130 more, but he fell a victim to the curse. --Grundy Argus
