Adelyn Miller, age 86, of Ackley, died on Sunday, July 4, 2010 at the Pleasant Care Living Center in Pleasantville. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church in Ackley with burial in the Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before services at the church on Wednesday. The Sietsema Funeral Home in Ackley is in charge of arrangements.
Adelyn Miller was born on July 26, 1923 in Ackley, Iowa to Fred and Adeline (Neymeyer) Frericks. Adelyn attended Ackley High School and then went on to attend Teachers College in Cedar Falls.
On September 6, 1941, Adelyn was united in marriage to Ervin Miller. Adelyn taught school in rural Grundy County. On September 2, 1923, Adelyn was baptized at the Christian Reformed Church in Ackley. In 1949, she joined the Evangelical Brethren Church where she held various church offices. Adelyn later became the Church Historian for the United Methodist Church in Ackley and in 1978 she was awarded a Special Membership in the United Methodist Women of the Iowa Conference.
Adelyn is survived by two sons Neulyn (Linda) Miller of Pleasantville, Ia and Dawson (Linda) Miller of Des Moines, Ia; three granddaughters, Rebecca (Mike) Oliva of Pleasantville, Ia, Sherry Miller of Pleasantville, Ia and Amy (Gary) Wood of Corydon, Ia; one grandson Brett (Wendy) Miller of Des Moines, Ia; one brother Tobe (Donnetta) Frericks of Ackley, Ia; and a sister, Norma (Roger) Wrage of Marshalltown, Ia.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ervin, and sister Freda (Kenneth) Behr.
