Theresa F. Petersen, 91, of Reinbeck, Iowa, died Monday, December 15, 2008, at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital, in Grundy Center, Iowa, while under the care of Cedar Valley Hospice.

Theresa was born August 13, 1917, in Gilbertville, Iowa, the daughter of Victor and Mary (Arends) Girsch. She attended Immaculate Conception school in Gilbertville. On November 15, 1941, Theresa was united in marriage to Roy C. Petersen at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Gilbertville, Iowa. After their marriage, they made their home in Reinbeck. Theresa's husband Roy died on July 23, 1990, and she continued to make Reinbeck her home. She worked as a seamstress for many years for the local dry cleaners. She was a member of the Queen of Heaven Holy Family Catholic Church in Reinbeck, American Legion Auxiliary and the Rebekah Circle. Theresa loved sewing, crocheting, quilting and playing cards. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family.

Theresa is survived by two daughters- Vickie (Jack) Slick of New Hampton and Diana Petersen of Reinbeck; two sons- Ervin(JoAnn) Petersen of Reinbeck and Ray(Connie) Petersen of Clarksville, Iowa; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Roy; two sisters - Florence Mathes and Gertie Peth; two brothers- Lawrence and Walter Girsch; and a granddaughter, Mary Ann.
