Vernon was born November 14, 1919, on a farm southwest of Grundy Center, Iowa, the son of William and Mary (Sherbon) Kinsinger. Vernon was educated in the Palermo Township country school. In 1939 the family moved to Williams, Iowa where Vernon continued to help his father on the family farm. In 1940 he moved back to Grundy Center to work as a hired hand for Dwight Heltebridle for a year. In 1942 he started farming on his own near Williams. On June 1, 1942 he was united in marriage to Arlene E. Marken in Morrison, Iowa. In 1943 the couple moved to a farm near Eldora and farmed there 1 year before moving to a farm southeast of Grundy Center in 1944. The couple farmed there until in 1960 when they bought their present farm. Vernon had his retirement sale on December 2, 1980. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Grundy Center and served on the Board of Directors of the Farmer's Cooperative Elevator for 9 years.
He is survived by his wife, Arlene, three daughters: Judy and her husband Charles L. Obrecht of Harlan, Iowa, Bonnie and her husband William McHugh of Elkader, Iowa, and Linda and her husband Franklin Bennett of Grundy Center, Iowa; 6 grandchildren: Donald and his wife Jennifer Obrecht of Harlan, Iowa, Charles W. and his wife Renietta Obrecht of Harlan, Iowa, Chanda McHugh of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Karisa and her husband Nehru Cheddie of Ankeny, Iowa, Turner and his wife Belynda Bennett of Shakopee, Minnesota, and Amy Bennett of Grundy Center, Iowa; 13 great grandchildren, a brother: L. George and his wife Mary Kinsinger of Camdenton, Missouri, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one grandson: Greg Obrecht; 2 brothers: Wayne and Marlyn Kinsinger and a sister: Dorothy Trampel.
